Workshops vary in format and focus, from building core theater skills to exploring the pedagogy behind the craft to connecting directly with the people shaping the industry. Sessions may take the form of interactive workshops, coaching-style classes, or simulate a rehearsal room environment. Whether participatory or structured as a conversation, all programming offers direct access to Broadway talent and industry creatives actively shaping the field.
In New York, many workshops draw directly from the latest Tony Season, featuring material from this season's shows and taught by artists currently performing in them. Last summer we premiered a 4 day program led by top theater talent based in LA, with a line-up including Carmen Cusack (Tony Nom) , Jared Gertner (Oliver Nom) , Cedric Dodd (Worldwide Associate for The Great Gatsby), Gregory Butler (Worldwide Associate for Chicago).
We are so excited to premier a program in Naples Florida this February, where we will be shaping a faculty from Broadway professionals native to Florida as well as flying in some of our top teachers from NYC. BW has found a beautiful studio for the event, and purposely selected a beach location for this winter theater retreat.
Since 2017, BW programs are created for theater lovers, and led by Broadway professionals. All ability levels, ages 18 - 108 are welcome. Now in NYC, Burbank CA for our second year, and making our debut in Naples, Florida. BW was founded by theater actress Jeanna de Waal, who has always loved the performing arts training, process, and community as much as doing the shows themselves.
ABOUT BROADWAY WEEKENDS
Broadway Weekends was founded in 2017 as a theater camp for adults, led by Broadway talent. Since then, BW has welcomed theater lovers from around the world, many of whom have become regulars returning year after year.

The camp itself was just surreal and magical and incredible and about 50 other adjectives I could add that still wouldn't do the experience justice. Hands down one of the best experiences of my life.

BW Theater Camp is designed to mirror the energy of the Broadway rehearsal and training process, while staying fully accessible to non-professionals.
Depending on enrollment, many sessions will offer multiple tracks (eg. dance vs singing technique), allowing participants to tailor their experience to their individual goals. We aim to balance a strong core curriculum with fresh material that keeps returning participants challenged and inspired.
Workshops are grounded in essential theater disciplines such as dance, acting through song, vocal technique, improvisation, scene study, and puppetry. But specific offerings change each year, shaped by our invited guest artists and the evolving theater landscape.
Registration includes all workshops and programming. The New York 5 day camp (only) also includes a ticket to one of the standout Broadway productions from the current Tony season.

WONDERING HOW IT ALL WORKS?
BW in person programs are for adults who love theater: whether you've been performing for years or haven’t stepped into a studio since high school, you’ll find your place here. Some participants come to sharpen their skills, others to break out of their comfort zone.
Campers come from around the world — doctors, teachers, attorneys, accountants, nurses, novelists, pharmacists, engineers, students, moms, dads — all united by a shared love of theater.
All participants must be 18 or older. There is no upper age limit.
New York City
Our NYC programs place you in the heart of the Broadway ecosystem. We build the faculty around working theater professionals, welcoming an exciting mix of teachers between their rehearsals, auditions and performances. Outside the studio, you’ll experience the pace and excitement of New York, navigating Times Square, maybe seeing several Broadway shows, and spending a few days completely immersed in the Broadway theater stomping ground.
Burbank, Los Angeles
Our Burbank program brings together exceptional Broadway performers and creatives who now call Los Angeles home. Outside the studio, the experience has a more relaxed rhythm, with sunshine, palm trees, and a California vibe. It offers Broadway-caliber training without the intense hustle of NYC.
Naples, Florida
Our Naples program is the most relaxed of all - a creative escape with sunshine, warm evenings and the beach just a short drive away. It combines exceptional theater training with the easygoing atmosphere of a vacation, giving campers space to create, connect, and unwind in a beautiful location in between each full day. Faculty will be built from Broadway performers with a Florida base and key teachers flown in from NYC.
NEW YORK CAMP:
Workshops will be held at Open Jar Studios (JULY) or Pearl Studios (FEBRUARY) – both premier rehearsal spaces in the heart of Times Square where many Broadway productions prepare.
LOS ANGELES CAMP:
Workshops will be held at CenterStaging Studios – a renowned rehearsal facility in Burbank California where top artists and productions prepare.
NAPLES CAMP:
Workshops will be held at Études Events Center - a beautiful Naples facility featuring spacious, light-filled studios, sprung wooden dance floors and plenty of room to create.
We offer an annual discounts on all programs for participants who sign up before February 1st. Early sign-ups help us plan ahead, and this is our way of saying thank you. Depending on registration numbers, smaller discounts may be available as camp approaches, but the best deal is always to book early.
We offer additional incentives through Broadway Bucks: campaigns offering event credit.
At the 2 DAY NYC program we run a subsidized price for full time teachers or theater teachers, will those tickets last.

Theater teachers of all backgrounds have joined us, some with extensive theatrical performance backgrounds and others from sister subjects including Music or English.
Many PD workshops focus on logistics: what equipment to buy, where to place a mic. At Broadway Weekends, even our technical workshops are built from an emotional and artistic foundation. Designed as experiential learning, every exercise is developed to explore the artistry and emotion behind creative choices, approaching subjects from their core sentiments.
Educators are exposed to adaptable classroom exercises that offer students a meaningful entry point into each subject, and we offer lesson plan breakdowns from teaching artists who feel comfortable providing them.
Our ultimate goal is to help teachers reconnect with their own artistry, leaving them recharged for another year of teaching with energy and confidence, and giving them a taste of what it’s like to be a theater student again.
All participants will receive a certificate documenting their professional development hours (16 for the 2-Day Camp, 40 for the 5-Day Camp).
Our program has been recognized for professional development by organizations such as NYCDOE, CPS, and BOCES. Many teachers have successfully secured tuition and even travel funding through school PD budgets or teacher groups, and we have tools to support this process including pre-written grant language and information packs to share with administration.
BW summer camps allow theater dreamers, performers, and educators to interact and work up close and personal with current Broadway talent. It has been a transforming experience for me!
